The journey was financed by each one of the participants
The bevelling machine was donated by Indo and part of the lenses and frames by different companies from the sector
The rest of the necessary material was provided by private donations
The used glasses were collected from different opticians from all over Spain
Objectives:
1. Setting up and running a workshop to asemble and repare glasses
2. Mozambican staff training with the aim of running the workshop on a long term basis.
3. Transporting the stock left in the country
2000 used glasses
800 preassembled reading glasses.
2000 frames without ophthalmic lenses.
2000 ophthalmic lenses of different prescription
4. Transporing of school material and handing out of notebooks, pencils, paintings, labellers, etc…
Conclusions:
- The population we examined were from different age groups although the majority were adults, due to difficulties in situ of professional competitions.
- The most frequent refracting defects found were:
Presbicia
High Hipermetropía
High myopia
The most frequent ocular affections in the explored population were ocular cataracts, infections and traumatisms
