Mi nombre es Shivansh Chaturvedi, soy un estudiante de último año de IB y vivo en Kenya.
Empecé a trabajar en un hogar de niños llamado «M.A. Children’s Home» en 2011.
He visto el crecimiento de la escuela poco a poco y los retos asociados con el funcionamiento de una ONG aquí.
Por ejemplo, hay mucho papeleo asociado para conseguir cualquier cosa hecha en el gobierno, porque hay mucha desorganización y no hay reglas claras.
Cuando encuentras un funcionario del gobierno, generalmente él es correcto y cortés hablando, pero no se preocupan por resolver los problemas, y no toma cualquier acción que de solución a las necesidades reales.
La falta de educación y la poca conciencia en la limpieza, la salud y la higiene es uno de los principales problemas.
En el hogar de niños, educamos a 110 niños desfavorecidos, pero lo que se aprende en la escuela sobre los modales básicos y limpieza general se olvida en su casa. La razón es que los padres o tutores realmente no apoyan o dan poca importancia a esos aspectos.
Además de dar educación a 110 niños de 5 a 12 años de edad, cuyos alimentos, libros, uniformes escolares y zapatos son atendidos, el hogar de niños también tiene programas de alimentación para más de 200 niños de la zona cada domingo alterno.
Visió Sense Fronteres he ayudado a muchos de estos niños con revisiones oftalmológicas y donación de gafas.
Las donaciones de ropa y alimentos infantiles se dan algunas veces al año en la barriada que rodea también.
Aunque las donaciones han sido muy beneficiosas, creo que es más importante la formación humanitaria y de crecimiento personal.
Las necesidades básicas de alimentos, agua potable, aseos, la buena salud y la educación deben ser abordados en primer lugar; el resto puede seguir después.
A través de una cooperación entre la gente de todos los ámbitos, los problemas que afectan a este tipo de personas pueden ser solucionados.
El trabajo de Visió Sense Fronteres y otras organizaciones puede mejorar más la situación de aquellos que necesitan ayuda.

My name is Shivansh and I am a final year IB student residing in Kenya .
I started working with a children’s home called M.A.children’s home since 2011.
I have seen the school growing bit by bit and the challenges associated with running an NGO here.
To speak about a few,there is lot of paperwork and red-tapism associated with the getting anything done in the government as there is lack of organisation and there are no clear cut rules.
when meeting a government servant ,he is usually polite to talk to,but refrain from helping or taking any clear cut action.
On the other side of spectrum there are challenges putting your point across to the people you are working for.
lack of education and poor awareness towards cleanliness,health and hygiene is one of the major stumbling blocks.
In M.A.Math children’s home,education is given to 110 children from under privileged backgrounds but, what is learnt in the school as far as the basic manners,etiquette,maintaining the uniform and general cleanliness is concerned is forgotten at home. The reason is that parents or guardians don’t really support or give too much importance to all this.
I feel, it is not just about donating stuff,it is about telling them and training them to use it the right way.
sometimes I see that people just donate what they feel maybe useful or what they have in excess.I feel that they should actually ask the authorities what is needed.
The basic necessities of food,drinking water,toilets and good health and education need to be addressed first and the rest can follow later.
At M.A.Children’s home we strive to achieve most of this.
Besides giving education to 110 children of age groups of 5-12,whose food,books,school uniform and shoes are taken care of we do feeding programs for over 200 children every alternate Sundays.
Toilets have been built for the near by slum of JAM city,with the help of NGO called ‘I love Africa ‘and water for these is provided from the from the bore well
Donations of toys,clothes,baby foods and infant formulas are given at specific times of the year.
Regular medical camps are conducted by medical professionals on a quarterly basis and typhoid vaccines,deworming tablets etc are provided.
NGO Visio sense Froneteres (vision without borders)has operated over 100 patients of cataract from the nearby slum areas and has done followup wityh good response.
I feel these small steps can become significant if help and cooperation is received from the concerned authorities.
